The iPad (5th generation) was announced by Apple on March 21, 2017. The iPad has a 9.7-inch screen. Compared to its predecessor, the iPad Air 2, the processor is updated from the Apple A8X to the A9 with the embedded Apple M9 motion co-processor. The iPad has 2 gigabytes of RAM. The iPad is 7.5mm thick, which is the same thickness as the iPad Air, compared to 6.1mm of the iPad Air 2. Unlike other iPad models available, the new iPad’s display is not fully laminated and does not have anti-reflective coating. It is available in 32 and 128 gigabyte storage options. Contrasting with the iPad Pro lineup, the new iPad features only two speakers (as opposed to four), has no Smart Connector support, and has no flash on the back. It is offered in silver, gold, and space grey.

The iPad (5th Generation) will update to iPadOS 16.

Operating System Info

iOS devices can’t have an OS installed on them that is newer than what Apple decides is available to it. For MacOS however, depending on the age of the device we can upgrade and install a newer OS than what is offered through regular updates. These will show as “Open Core”.

What does the cosmetic condition mean?
  • Grade "A"
Grade "A" condition means the device is fully functional including all core and auxiliary features. Grade "A" devices will have little to no visible wear, and are generally as close to new as possible. Battery Health will be 85% or higher.
  • Grade "B"
Grade "B" condition means the device is fully functional including all core and auxiliary features. Grade "B" devices will have average visible wear, including scratches on the display and frame. Most used devices are considered a "B" condition. Battery Health will be 81% or higher.
  • Grade "C"
Grade "C" devices will have more-than-average visible wear, and some will have a major cosmetic blemish (such as medium to heavy scratches on the display or frame). Battery Health will be 80% or higher.
